Yamamoto Yusuke

In the words of Rikio Koizumi, a professor in the Faculty of Metalwork, Department of industrial, Interior and Craft Design at the Musasino Art University:

I have known Yusuke Yamamoto for 8 years since he first entered my metal craft course as a student. For the last 3 years, while also assisting in classroom administration and teaching, he has been diligently working on his artwork. After having learned the general techniques of metal engraving, forging, casting, etc., he chose iron for his main material in the beginning, and used the technique of forging.

From 2006, he began using the motif of dogs for his main form, creating a story-like world through the placement of other forms, such as shoes, a turtle, or a hat.Depending on where and how these items are placed, the works can appear either peaceful or disquieting.

Since 2007, his works have become more substantial; he is no longer concentrating on form alone, but his works also show his powers of observation as well. It will be interesting to see how his work develops in the future.
